Frequently Asked Questions

Common Patient Questions

Before visiting Ross & Cammack Family Dental, you may have a few questions or concerns about dentistry and all that is involved. Fret not, we’ve listed several common questions below.

How often should I come in for a dental cleaning and checkup?

The American Dental Association recommends that of patients of almost all ages in visit the dentist for preventive checkups and professional dental cleanings every six months. Regular visits to your Fort Worth general dentist can help you stay on top of developing oral health issues. Patients who are undergoing periodontal therapy for severe gum disease or who have any other ongoing dental health issues may need to come in every three months for a checkup.

Does your practice offer children’s dentistry?

Yes, we are a full-service family dentistry practice and see patients of all ages.  Much like there are pediatricians that take care of little ones and their specific problems, there are pediatric dentists who make the dental environment much more entertaining for young children.  Our typical recommendation is that if your child is a new patient to our practice, we begin seeing them at the age of 12.  Every member of our team is committed to creating a positive office environment so that even our youngest patients can feel comfortable. Children who learn to associate good feeling with dental visits generally continue to seek out professional dental care as they become adults. Thus, bringing your little ones in for regular checkups and cleanings sets the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Is cosmetic dentistry complicated and expensive?

Cosmetic dentistry (sometimes referred to as smile makeovers) has the reputation for requiring complex, multi-part procedures that radically alter a patient’s smile. In reality, cosmetic dentistry is highly subjective and treatment plans can vary according to a number of different factors. Many patients only need a few minor tweaks, like teeth whitening or chipped tooth repair, while other patients benefit from more involved solutions like porcelain veneers. If you feel embarrassed by the appearance of your smile, please call us to schedule your complimentary cosmetic consultation today.

My jaw hurts in the morning. Is this a serious problem?

Very often, soreness in the jaw can indicate that you grind your teeth at night. This condition, known medically as “bruxism,” can lead to chronic pain, worn down tooth enamel, increases enamel sensitivity, damaged inner cheek tissue, and the development of TMJ disorder. If you have jaw or facial pain, chronic headaches, or your jaw doesn’t seem to work as smoothly as it should, call us today.

Dentist’s offices make me nervous. What can you do to help me?
